Access the Message Centre
1. Log into your account.
2. Click the “” button on the homepage of hktdc.com Sourcing, or visit the “My Sourcing” page and click on the “Message Centre” option.
When receiving messages …
If you are interested in products or services listed by suppliers on hktdc.com Sourcing, you can send enquiries to them via the enquiry form. Upon submission, the supplier will receive the enquiry and a conversation box will be automatically created in their Message Centre.
Our communication system between a buyer and a supplier uses instant messaging, instead of a conventional mail format.
Therefore, to start communicating with the supplier and facilitate the deal, you can simply type in messages (e.g. asking for more product details) or attach a document, and press the “Send” button to send your message. You can also press the "Enter" key to send the message or use "Shift + Enter" to start a new line.
The message will display with double ticks when the recipient has read the message.
- Single Grey tick - the message has been sent out
- Double Orange tick - Message read by the recipient
You can also press the Audio / Video button to initiate an audio or video call with the supplier.
Users can record the video / audio call by clicking the “red dot” button and download the recording file for reference. The file will be downloaded automatically after you stop recording.
The file can be viewed on Chrome / Safari / Firefox / VLC player. The default media player on Windows and Mac will only support audio replay.
Is this Supplier trustworthy?
Besides some basic company information, hktdc.com Sourcing also provides you with additional information about suppliers for you to determine whether the suppliers are trustworthy or not.
You can refer to the Supplier's Trust Card next to the chatroom for additional information, including the average response time, gold/silver/bronze credential label, business nature, the date since the supplier has been advertising on hktdc.com Sourcing etc.
Among the things shown on the Supplier’s Trust Card, one key information you can take into consideration is the average response time of the supplier, which reveals how proactive and timely they are when communicating with buyers on hktdc.com Sourcing.
Based on the recent replies from a supplier to all buyers, it is classified into 4 groups: within 24 hours, 1-3 days, 4-7 days and over 7 days. The average response time will be not available if the supplier has not replied to enquiries/messages in the past 30 days. This information helps buyers to identify suppliers with varying response times, hence helping to shorten the sourcing turnaround time.
Virus scanning for attachment
When you send or receive an enquiry, enquiry email or message, there is a virus scanning for attachments. The system scans attachments in the enquiry form, the Message Centre and enquiry emails so users can reduce the risk of downloading attachments with a virus.
- Message Centre: The system scans after a user sends an attachment. Suspicious files will be disabled for download.
- Enquiry form: The system scans after a user adds an attachment to the enquiry form. Enquiries with suspicious attachments cannot be submitted. The suspicious attachment must be removed to proceed with the submission.
- Enquiry email: The system removes the suspicious attachments before sending the email.
